HypnoBirthing® is a "full-service" childbirth education course, teaching everything needed to prepare mind and body to have a healthy birth. This childbirth education program for every couple whether you are planning on using medication at the time of birth or not. Hypnosis for childbirth is not a new concept, but rather reintroducing the philosophy of birthing as it existed thousands of years ago and as it was recaptured in the work of Dr. Grantly Dick-Read, an English obstetrician who forwarded the concept in the 1920's. The method teaches you that in the absence of fear and tension, severe discomfort does not have to be a natural accompaniment of the birthing process. HypnoBirthing is a unique method of childbirth education that teaches couples how to work together using many techniques including, hypnosis, imagery, and relaxation for a more comfortable, relaxed, and peaceful birth. Nurses and doctors are becoming increasingly aware of the advantages of using hypnosis.
You will always have the ability to use anesthesia if you desire, but most doctors and nurses report that, when it is requested, much less is needed and for a shorter period of time than when hypnosis is not used. As a result, both mother and child are more healthy and alert for the experience. Not using chemical anesthesia or using much less anesthesia, also tends to aid in recovery for the new mother and infant. Without a doubt there is a huge difference between mothers who use HypnoBirthing and those who do not.
